September 16, 1934 - March 11, 2015

Dorothy Denmark Green

Savannah- Dorothy "Dot" Gay Denmark Green went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.          She was born September 16, 1934 to Paul and Grace Denmark, originally of Bulloch County, Georgia. They moved to Savannah when she was young, where she later graduated from Savannah High. Dot married Donald Green in 1952 and traveled extensively with his career in the Air Force.

Dot loved her church family and was a very active, dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church where she used her beautiful voice to sing praises to the Lord with the Senior Choir. She was also active in the WMU, Keenagers, and Denna Ricks Sunday School class. For many years she taught 4 and 5 year olds in Sunday School. She ministered in many ways especially with her unique crocheting projects, made with loving hands.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Benton Denmark. Surviving her are her loving family: husband Donald, children Diane (Randy) Friese of Wichita, Kansas, Debbie (Steve) Michael of Hagerstown, Maryland, Donnie (Charlyn) Green of Martinez, Georgia, Bobby Green of Savannah, brother’s Jack (Iona) Denmark and Ed (Brenda) Denmark, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great, great-grandchildren.

Her unselfish nature and gifts of grace were a wonderful example to all, especially her family, as she always put others first and inspired everyone. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with Rev. Dr. Allan Bosson officiating.   Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
